EYFS

Poetry Hunt – Children to collect some rhyming words.

‘Poetry slam’/festival - Each class to learn and present a poem to their double year groups.

Year group poetry collage – children to produce a collage in year groups to display based on their poem for the half term.

 

KS1

Roald Dahl ‘Best’ hunt – different beasts from Roald Dahl’s poetry to be hidden around school.

‘Poetry slam’/festival - Each class to learn and present a poem to their double year groups.

Year group poetry collage – children to produce a collage in year groups to display based on their poem for the half term.

 

KS2

‘Broken poem’ hunt – children to collect all the pieces of a poem from around school to piece together. These poems will be printed on different colour paper so the children can collect as a class.

‘Poetry slam’/festival - Each class to learn and present a poem to their double year groups.

Year group poetry collage – children to produce a collage in year groups to display based on their poem for the half term.

 

Whole school poetry competition

EYFS- Children to illustrate a poem.

Y1 -6 Children to write a poem either based on their topic or ‘Life at Grove’.

Deadline for entries to be Wednesday 14th February.  Winners will receive a prize and have their poems displayed on the school website and compiled into a book to go into reading areas.

 

Alan Durant, a children’s poet, will also be leading some workshops and assemblies during the week.
