Spanish begins in Key Stage 2 and helps children develop an enthusiasm for language learning. Pupils learn useful vocabulary and phrases linked to everyday topics such as greetings, the body, food, school, towns, shopping, routines, the wider world and Spanish culture. Lessons include speaking, listening, reading and writing activities, giving children the chance to practise pronunciation, build confidence and make connections between languages. Learning Spanish helps children become curious, confident communicators and prepares them well for language learning at secondary school.
