Children’s University (CU) is a national project which engages children from the age of 7 – 13 in out of hours learning. This learning happens in school clubs that take place at lunchtime and afterschool. The children can also visit a variety of learning destinations including the Think Tank, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery as well as museums across the country.
The Children's University Birmingham graduation took place on in July 2015 at Aston University. Our African drumming group performed at the ceremony. This year seventeen pupils graduated, fifteen bronze awards (30 hours of learning) and three silver awards (65 hours of learning+). This celebration event was attended by parents and children. It was particularly inspiring to listen to the Birmingham Young Poet Laurete Lauren Williams.
This year more sports activity have become validated learning programmes and all music lessons are now validated. We are aiming to have Grove pupils graduating with gold, silver and bronze awards in 2016.
